BIO
Design allows for exploration to take a focused course, and fashion is my course at this time. Ideas come from everything around me. From observation to experimentation, not knowing where a sketch could take me, being willing to embark on a journey to the unknown, and finding solutions within designs - it is often difficult to slow my mind. Sourcing research from my athletic past fuels a need for function, while hours of viewing artwork sparks creative freedom and expression. My design process has found a connection to internal ideas such as the body, protection and emotion. Imagery and ideas guide my process, making me willing to adapt and explore based on each situation. It may be incredibly simple or annoyingly complex; I never quite know how the work will turn out. That’s part of the thrill. Overall, my design ethos celebrates exploration, intention, and a constant willingness to question my graphic, outdoor, tactile, humours, simple, and ultimately beautiful world.
manifesto
My eyes have always been drawn to the color, pattern and texture of the world. The elements and principles of design felt innate to me even before I realized what they were. Originally a graphic design major at scad, I switched to fashion design at the end of my second year. I’m a tactile, tangible, hands on artist that uses fashion design as a means of expression. Developing outcomes from combining my outdoor-technical and athletic roots with extensive garment related research is my favorite part of the process. While studying at multiple universities in the U.S, Hong Kong and London, I was incredibly inspired by many unexpected discoveries and took advantage of every opportunity I was given. Fashion is my exploration; the dynamic processes, intentional research, and emotional intuition guide the work every day.
